
Roger Ferguson became the chief executive of TIAA-CREF, the main retirement plan for academics in the US, in 2008. Previously he was the chairman at Swiss Re America Holding Corporation. Roger Ferguson joined Swiss Re in June 2006 as Member of the Executive Board, Financial Market Strategist and Chairman of Swiss Re America Holding Corporation. In October 2006, he was appointed Head of Financial Services and Member of Swiss Re’s Executive Committee. A U.S. citizen born in 1951, in Washington, D.C., Roger Ferguson received a B.A. in economics (magna cum laude) in 1973, a J.D. in law (cum laude) in 1979, and a Ph.D. in economics in 1981, all from Harvard University. He also holds honorary degrees from Lincoln College and Webster University and is an Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge. |
Prior to his employment at Swiss Re, Mr. Ferguson served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve System and, from 1984 to 1997, was an Associate and Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he managed a variety of studies for financial institutions, and was Director of Research and Information Services. From 1981 to 1984, he was an attorney at the New York City office of Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he worked on syndicated loans, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and new product development. Roger Ferguson is a member of the Board of Overseers of Harvard University and of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Advanced Study. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Group of Thirty. Roger Ferguson is married and has two children. |
